Our Polished Concrete Process


At Fishers Epoxy Flooring, our polished concrete process is designed to transform dull, ordinary concrete into a durable, attractive surface that enhances the look and performance of your space. We begin by thoroughly inspecting and preparing the concrete, then use professional grinding equipment to remove imperfections and create a smooth, even foundation. Through a series of progressively finer polishing steps, we refine the surface to achieve the desired sheen, from a subtle satin finish to a high-gloss shine. Finally, we apply a protective treatment that helps resist stains, moisture, and wear, resulting in a low-maintenance floor that delivers long-lasting beauty and exceptional durability for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.


Step 1: Surface Preparation

  • Inspect the concrete slab for cracks, pits, coatings, adhesives, or surface contaminants.
  • Repair defects and remove any existing floor coverings or coatings.
  • Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure proper processing.


Step 2: Initial Grinding

  • Use industrial diamond grinders with coarse-grit diamond tooling to remove imperfections, level uneven areas, and expose the desired amount of aggregate.
  • Multiple grinding passes may be required depending on the condition of the concrete.


Step 3: Concrete Densification

  • Apply a liquid densifier that penetrates the concrete and reacts chemically with free lime.
  • This process hardens the surface, increases durability, and prepares the slab for polishing.


Step 4: Honing

  • Progress through a series of finer diamond grits to refine the surface and remove scratches left by the initial grinding phase.
  • The floor begins to develop a smoother appearance and increased reflectivity.


Step 5: Polishing

  • Continue polishing with progressively finer diamond abrasives until the desired gloss level is achieved, ranging from satin to high-gloss mirror finish.
  • Multiple polishing stages ensure a uniform, consistent appearance.


Step 6: Stain Guard or Protective Treatment (Optional)

  • Apply a penetrating stain guard or protective sealer to improve resistance to stains, water, and contaminants.
  • This step helps maintain the floor's appearance and performance.


Step 7: Final Inspection and Burnishing

  • Inspect the floor for quality, consistency, and desired finish level.
  • Burnish the surface if required to enhance gloss and maximize reflectivity.
